[IIGB_All] Important Notice: Autoclave Replacement and Temporary Access Changes

Dear IIGB Community,

I am pleased to inform you that three new autoclaves have been purchased to replace the aging and frequently malfunctioning units currently in use. Two new autoclaves will be installed on the third floor and one on the second floor. This upgrade is essential to ensure the continued safety and efficiency of our research operations.

The new units are scheduled to arrive in early June. Installation will proceed in a sequential but slightly overlapping manner, with each autoclave requiring a three-week installation period, as outlined below:

  *   Week 1: Utility disconnection (handled by UCR)
  *   Week 2: Installation of new autoclave (Steris)
  *   Week 3: Utility reconnection (handled by UCR)

As a result, access to the autoclave on your respective floor will be unavailable for a total of approximately six weeks.

To minimize disruption, please note that the following autoclaves will remain available throughout the installation period:

  *   Two autoclaves on the first floor
  *   One autoclave on the second floor
  *   Two autoclaves on the fourth floor

I understand this may pose temporary challenges, however, the replacement is a critical and necessary step to support the long-term functionality of our facilities.

Please plan your experiments and sterilization needs accordingly.
