Greeting dear IIGB colleagues,
I am writing to provide you with an update on our upcoming event and plans.
We are pleased to announce that we have finally identified an IIGB administrator who will assist with the financial and day-to-day operations at our center. We are in the final stages of the hiring process and, if all goes smoothly, she will be able to join us in two weeks. I will provide a further update once her start date is confirmed.
In addition, this summer, we will be undertaking a significant project in collaboration with the new administrator and IIGB staff. Our goal is to record and analyze the PIs lab spaces within the genomics. Specifically, we will examine the correlation between the assigned space, the space occupied by students and researchers, and the PIs' funding status.
To ensure optimal use of our resources, we will implement the following measures:
* For PIs who have not applied for grants in the last few years and lack financial support, leading to unoccupied space, we will work with the space committee to reassess their needs.
* In such cases, we will request the PI to contract to a space that is sufficient for their current number of researchers and grants.
* We will also examine the postdoc room spaces and request that PIs who have cluttered these spaces with obsolete instrumentation remove and clean the area.
We believe this initiative will help us better allocate our resources and support the ongoing success of our research efforts.
Be powerful.
Katie
