Dear IIGB members,

Please note we have extended the deadline for the nominations to December 4, 2023, 5 pm.

in preparation for the 21th Annual Center for Plant Cell Biology (CEPCEB) Distinguished Noel T. Keen Lecture and Awards Ceremony on Friday, December 8, 2023, we are soliciting nominations by December 4, 2023, 5 pm.

The IIGB Natasha V. Raikhel Award in Research Innovation and Science Leadership Award is a biennial monetary award that recognizes an outstanding faculty or non-senate academic researcher for innovation and/or leadership. Awardees and nominees are to be members of the IIGB. The awardee shall be selected from a committee of IIGB members.

The Natasha V. Raikhel Award (awarded to Thomas Girke (‘17), Carolyn Rasmussen and David Nelson (’19), Karine LeRoch (’21) is open to all members of IIGB (faculty and non-tenure track researchers). Any IIGB member may serve as a nominator. The nomination package requires a 1-to-2-page letter of nomination, in which the nominee’s qualifications for the award are stated. Excellence may be recognized in research, leadership, or both. Additional letters of support will be accepted but are not required. Nominations should include a current curriculum vitae for the nominee that provides information such as education, positions held, accomplishments, previous honors or awards, publications, leadership at IIGB/CEPCEB/CIDVR/UCR or to the profession at large, etc.

Awardees will be recognized on Friday, December 8th at 3:30 in the Genomics Auditorium. There will be additional talks and recognitions prior to the awards ceremony, including a lecture by Michael Purugganan from New York University. More details will be shared soon.
