Subject: [IIGB_All] Genomics Core Seminar on Element AVITI System for NGS today at Genomics Auditorium 1102A

Dear All,

Please join IIGB Genomics Core April Seminar “Learn about the AVITI system, the DNA sequencing platform that offers industry-leading data quality at the lowest run costs” today at 10 am PST at Genomics Auditorium 1102A & Lobby. In this seminar, Dr. Semyon Kruglyak, the VP of Informatics from Element Bioscience, will introduce the newly released AVITI System. Refreshments/Snacks will be provided.

The Element AVITI™ System, released in 2022 by Element Biosciences (San Diego, CA), is a benchtop next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform with unprecedented performance, cost, and flexibility. The AVITI Sequencer is compatible with the current NGS workflow. The sequencing cost via the AVITI sequencer is comparable to or lower than NovaSeq 6000, the current dominant large-scale NGS service provider, but only at a third of the instrument cost and service contract. According to a UC DNA Sequencing Core Facility Manager: “The AVITI does highest quality DNA sequencing<https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.11.03.514117v1.full.pdf> today, but metabolomics & proteomics are also on the roadmap using the avidity chemistry?” Here is an informative podcast<https://mendelspod.com/podcasts/nevermind-200-genome-element-ceo-molly-he-says-core-chemistry-capable-much-more/> with background info on the chemistry and the Element Biosciences company: “Nevermind the $200 Genome, Element CEO Molly He Says Core Chemistry Capable of Much More”.

Below are some major features of the AVITI™ System (from Element Biosciences website<https://www.elementbiosciences.com/products/aviti>).
· $5 per Gb/$1 per million reads. The Element AVITI System has the lowest run costs available today in a benchtop instrument.
· 1 billion reads/300 Gb per flow cell. With mid-throughput and factory scale pricing, AVITI System enables cost-effective exome and low-pass sequencing.
· >90% Q30 data. Avidity Sequencing™ offers industry-leading accuracy, nearly eliminates index hopping, and has a low duplication rate.
· Reagent price guarantee. Stable reagent pricing for the life of the instrument empowers researchers to do more science for their budget.
· Dual independent flow cells. With 600 Gb of total throughput, run two applications at staggered times or maximize output with parallel runs.
· Ecosystem compatibility. Validated solutions including bulk and scRNA, exome, and low-pass sequencing preserve your existing workflows.

Please come and join us! Feel free to bring your research projects and questions for a talk with us. Join the Zoom: https://ucr.zoom.us/j/99182808692?pwd=bUFoYk5vNDIzaE4rdkRVMVNRaE1YUT09
