<span style="font-size:19px">The <a href="https://miami.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=17e35ad47c6aab99093521951&id=a6e9d769d9&e=593e81ba0f" style="color:#d0724c;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:underline" target="_blank">Cuban Heritage Collection</a> at the University of Miami Libraries is home to the largest repository of materials dedicated to Cuba outside of the island and the most comprehensive collection of resources about Cuban exile history and the global Cuban diaspora experience. The <a href="https://miami.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=17e35ad47c6aab99093521951&id=97feb9fb01&e=593e81ba0f" style="color:#d0724c;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:underline" target="_blank">Program in Cuban Studies</a> at the University of Miami embraces an inter- and multi-disciplinary approach to the study of Cuba's past, present, and future, with courses offered in departments across the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as several other colleges and schools.<br>

In 2023, Cuban Studies and the Collection launched the "<strong>Seminar in Cuban and Cuban Diaspora Studies</strong>," which provides a virtual forum for works-in-progress (articles, dissertation chapters, and book chapters) that explore issues in Cuban and Cuban diaspora studies, irrespective of period, discipline, or approach. The seminar welcomes comparative and interdisciplinary topics in English and Spanish and is open to faculty members, graduate students, and independent scholars in the United States and internationally. The goal of the series is to foster a community of scholars that gathers to discover, discuss, and celebrate new scholarship.<br>

<strong>This program is made possible by generous funding from the Morrison Fund for Cuban Studies at the University of Miami.</strong></span><br>

<span style="font-size:19px">The seminar meets via Zoom select Fridays in fall 2024 and spring 2025, from 2 to 3:30pm (EST/EDT). There will be five sessions in total. To maximize time for discussion, papers are circulated electronically two weeks in advance. Each session begins with brief opening remarks from the paper author and comments from an invited discussant. Conversations will be held in <strong>English and Spanish</strong>, in accordance with the language in which the pre-circulated paper is authored. The author and discussant each receive a $500 honorarium.</span><br>
