Dear friends and colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well. I am sending you this message in my
role as current chair of the Ibero-American Music Study Group (IAMSG-AMS).
As you know, our dear colleague Eduardo Herrera finished his term as
outgoing chair and it is time to elect a new incoming chair for our study
group. After consultations with several members, we have two outstanding
candidates:  Luis Díaz-Santa Garza and Vera Wolkowicz.

*Luis Díaz-Santana Garza* studied a Bachelor of Music, Master of Arts, and
Ph.D. in History, has done research on music from the baroque period until
the present. Member of the National Research System, is a full-time
Professor of guitar, baroque music, and Mexican music history at the Arts
Department of Zacatecas Autonomous University. He has published articles in
Acta Musicologica, Diagonal, El Artista, and Boletin Música of Casa de las
Américas, and wrote the books Music tradition in Zacatecas (1850-1930),
History of Mexican norteño music, a dictionary of popular music, and
Between Norteño and Tejano Conjunto: Music, Tradition, and Culture at the
U.S.-Mexico Border (Lexington Books).

*Vera Wolkowicz* is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at
the Centre de Recherches sur les Arts et le Langage, École des Hautes
Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, France) and an Affiliated Researcher at
the Instituto de Artes del Espectáculo “Dr. Raúl H. Castagnino” (Facultad
de Filosofía y Letras, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina). She has
also been an Early Career Fellow at the Institute of Musical Research
2018-2019 (Royal Holloway, University of London). She holds a Ph.D. and an
MPhil in Music from the University of Cambridge (UK) and a BA from the
University of Buenos Aires. Her research focuses on Latin American
musical nationalisms during the first decades of the twentieth century. She
is the author of *Música de América. Estudio preliminar y edición
crítica *(Buenos
Aires: Teseo and Biblioteca Nacional, 2012), and *Inca Music Reimagined:
Indigenist Discourses in Latin American Art Music, 1910–1930 *(Oxford
University Press, 2022), among other academic writings.

Please indicate your preferred candidate in the form you will receive soon
by March 8th. Thank you to Vera and Luis for accepting the invitation to
participate in this election. Also, we would like to express our gratitude
to Eduardo for his service and valuable contribution to the growth of the
IAMSG-AMS.
