Dear UCR Campus Partners,

We invite you to make a lasting impact on the lives of UC Riverside
students who have experienced foster care by joining the Guardian Scholars
Steering Committee. This volunteer opportunity allows you to partner with
the Office of Foster Youth Support Services (FYSS) in supporting,
mentoring, and advocating for some of the most resilient students on our
campus.

Why Join?

Guardian Scholars are current and former foster youth who bring
extraordinary determination to their academic journey. As a Steering
Committee Member, you will:

   -

   Engage directly with students through events, mentoring, and
   community-building opportunities.
   -

   Advocate for foster youth by sharing your voice and expertise in
   bi-monthly meetings.
   -

   Support programming and initiatives that foster belonging, resilience,
   and student success.
   -

   Inspire the next generation of UCR graduates by contributing your time,
   knowledge, and compassion.


What’s the Commitment?

   -

   One-year term: Fall 2025 – Fall 2026
   -

   Attend bi-monthly committee meetings (hybrid format)
   -

   Support at least one GS event and one Chow & Chill/Chat per quarter
   -

   Contribute to birthday celebrations, outreach efforts, and donor
   engagement campaigns
