Spark Your Potential is a dynamic and interactive program designed to
empower individual contributors to build skills to achieve your personal

2026 UCR Staff Conference

The UCR Staff Conference is a virtual, two-day annual event organized by
and for staff at UC Riverside. Its purpose is to provide professional
development, foster engagement, and cultivate a supportive, inclusive, and
dynamic environment where every staff member can thrive. This conference is
co-hosted by the UCR Staff Assembly <https://staffassembly.ucr.edu/>, Leaders
of Excellence and Distinction <https://lead.ucr.edu/> (LEAD), and Human
Resources Employee and Organizational Development
<https://hr.ucr.edu/employee-and-organizational-development> (EOD).

This year’s conference theme is “Together, We Rise: Empower, Evolve, and
Excel.” It will feature inspiring keynote speakers and sessions that offer
invaluable insights.

Dates: Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, 2026

Locations: Virtual sessions and School of Business, SBB Auditorium for the
closing session on March 25, 2026

Registration will open in Mid-February 2026.

UC Learning Center: Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

How can I reset or select a different language for an online course?
<https://ucrlearning.ucr.edu/faq#how-can-i-reset-or-select-a-di>

Some eCourses allow you to select a language the first time you launch the
course. Your progress will be bookmarked in that specific language version,
and you will be returned to it upon subsequent access.

If you wish to complete the course in a different language than initially
selected, you will need to (1) cancel your current registration
<https://ucrlearning.ucr.edu/learner-guide#cancel-registration> and then
(2) relaunch the course. This will allow you to revisit the language
selection page.

Note for Tagalog: Due to system restrictions, Tagalog is not explicitly
listed as a language option. As a workaround, learners who wish to access
Tagalog versions of content should select "English (Philippines)" from the
available menu options.

What should I do when if I see an Error Message from the QuestionPro Survey
in the UC SHAPE Training?

If you receive an error message when completing one of the embedded surveys
or tests in the UC Sexual Violence and Harassment, Anti-Discrimination,

New Roth Option: More Ways to Save

The UC Retirement Savings Program just got a major upgrade. You can now
make Roth contributions to your UC 403(b) and 457(b) Plans. This gives you
the flexibility to save with pretax dollars, Roth (after-tax) dollars, or a
mix of both.

Is a Roth Contribution Right for You?

Consider the Roth option if you fall into any of these categories:

   -

   The Early Starter: The younger you are, the more time your investments
   have to grow and compound—potentially tax-free.
   -

   The Future Planner: If you expect your tax rate to be higher when you
   retire than it is now, paying taxes today could save you significantly
   later.
   -

   The Flexible Retiree: Roth distributions don’t count as taxable income,
   allowing you to withdraw large sums for big purchases without hitting a
   higher tax bracket.
   -

   The High Earner: Unlike a Roth IRA, the UC Plans have no income limits.
   You can contribute regardless of how much you earn.
   -

   The Legacy Builder: Pass on tax-free assets to your beneficiaries
   (consult an estate planner for details).
