After extensive research the Franklin Covey team identified that the most effective leaders consistently live the 4 Essential Roles of Leadership as the foundational framework for their leadership success. Moving Beyond Bias Series<https://uc.sumtotal.host/core/pillarRedirect?relyingParty=LM&url=app%2Fmanagement%2FLMS_ActDetails.aspx%3FActivityId%3D501635%26UserMode%3D0&domain=14>: Moving Beyond Bias is a 5-module online series on Implicit Bias designed specifically for California State University and University of California employees.
                * Overview and the Science of Bias: Draws upon the science of bias to explore where bias comes from, why human beings are susceptible to it, and how it connects to the historical landscape of discrimination and social inequality.
                * Socialization and Prevalence of Bias: Participants will explore their own socialization experiences, the stereotypes to which they have been exposed, and how those stereotypes may have been internalized and contributed to the formation of biases.
                * How Bias Affect Behavior, Opportunity & Outcomes: Reviews research on the impacts of bias across various sectors (e.g., education, law enforcement, healthcare). It will culminate with participants exploring how bias impacts a range of experiences and outcomes within university life.
                * Individual Level Strategies: There are certain conditions that heighten the likelihood of implicit bias to influence judgment and decisions. Participants will be introduced to, and given the opportunity to practice evidence-based strategies for mitigating the impacts of bias. The strategies are based on the Breaking the Bias Habit(r) framework developed by Dr. Patricia Devine and her colleagues at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
                * Institutional Strategies: Participants learn how changes in policies and procedures at the institutional level can minimize the impact of bias on university practices, processes and culture. Participants will be introduced to 6 institutional strategies based on the work of Dr. John Powell at UC Berkeley and Dr. Jerry Kang at UCLA and their respective colleagues.
