Dear Graduate Students,

My kindest regards, I am Evelyn Vázquez, an Assistant Researcher in the Department of Social Medicine, Population and Public Health, University of California, Riverside. I am conducting a cross-sectional survey with underrepresented graduate students across academic disciplines (including Social Sciences, Humanities, STEM, and Professional fields). I am asking you if you would be willing to participate in this research. Participation in this research study is completely voluntary and you may withdraw your participation at any time.

If you say yes, you will participate in one cross-sectional survey via Qualtrics. The survey will include sociodemographic information, validated measures from the UC Graduate Student Well- Being Survey (2017), including the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale Revised (CESD-R), and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) scale. Pseudonyms will be provided. A subsample of 18 graduate students will participate in a longitudinal study during one quarter.

If you decide to participate in this research, you will be compensated with a $25.00 gift card for the completion of the cross-sectional survey. In addition, if you get invited and agree to participate in a longitudinal study using light-weight ecological momentary assessment (EMA), you will be receiving an additional $75.00 gift card. You will receive your compensation the same day after we have collected all the data needed for the EMA.
