LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

Presented by Asian Pacific Student Programs

Lunar New Year is the most important of many traditional Asian holidays <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditional_Chinese_holidays> . In China, this day is called Lantern Festival <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lantern_Festival> . Numerous Asian countries celebrate Lunar New Year, some including China, Vietnam, Laos, Korea, and Indonesia. This year the Lunar New Year of 2011 falls on February 3, 2011 and marks the Year of the Rabbit in China and the Year of the Cat in Vietnam.  The Rabbit is the fourth position in the Chinese zodiac and is known to be a lucky sign.  


Student Clubs & Organizations performing or tabling at the Festival include:
alpha Kappa Delta Phi, Anthropology Club, Alpha Phi Omega, Bengali Student Alliance, Chinese Martial Arts Club, Chinese Student Association, Filipinos in Health Science, Korean American Student Association, KSA Hanoori, Hmong Student Association, Katipunan,  Pi Delta Psi, Pacific Islander Student Alliance, Riverside Origami, Senryu Taiko, Social Justice Alliance, Students for Chinatown, Taiwanese American Student Association, Teo-Cheew Association, Thai Student Union, Vietnamese Student Association

Food being sold by groups:  samosas, pizza, Thai tea, Spam masubi, Korean BBQ, Lumpia, fried bananas and more!!!

 

Open to UCR students, faculty and staff only!!!
