> The Graduate Student Representative to the Campus Safety Committeee would like to share the following safety information with the graduate student body.

>
> 1) The UCR Police Department reported on the two recent armed robberies that occurred close to campus where the victims were UCR undergraduates. The Campus Safety Committee would like to bring to the attention of the students that many of us are walking the campus and to/from the surrounding neighborhoods at night alone. There is a campus escort service that the CSC and campus police would like our students to utilize. Though the escort service technically ends at midnight, a phone call to the service will be routed to dispatch and a campus safety officer should be available to escort the student (I am particularly concerned about our grad students who are doing research or studying late at night and walk to their parked vehicles or to housing alone).
>
> 2) At 10:21 AM on 21 October (10/21) UCR will be participating in the statewide Great California Shake-Out so our students should be on the alert for the drill and of course be prepared for “the Big One”.
