*1.  Graduate Student Night at The Barn** – tomorrow!!!*

The GSA Party Committee and Student Life are proud to present the
(rescheduled) first ever Graduate Student Night at the Barn (Building 358 on
the online campus map).  This extended happy hour event, featuring *free
food*, entertainment, and giveaways, will take place on *Thursday, November
29th from **5-9pm**.*  Come meet your GSA officers and fellow graduate
students!  Please remember to bring your ID as beverages will be available
for purchase ;o)  For more information, contact Kristy Richardson, the
Public Relations Officer, at krich003 at ucr.edu.

*2.  Council Meeting Wednesday Dec 5th  @ **6pm***


The last council meeting of the quarter will be held Wednesday Dec 5th at
the Senate Chambers in the Commons.  Come by our office at 5:30pm for free
pizza.  We will be joined by guest speakers from the Counseling Center and
from Housing and Dining.  The agenda for this meeting is available on the
GSA website.

3.  GSA Conference Travel Grant:  January conference deadline is Dec 3rd and
new caps for the Winter Quarter.*

Two quick items:  One, if you would like support for a conference ending in
January, your application must be submitted no later than Monday, December
3rd.  Two, the GSA CTG committee approved new caps for conferences in the
winter quarter (The new caps go into effect for conference ending in
January) are as follows:

World:  $700

North America:  $600

United States:  $500

Southwest:  $300

Attendee:  $75

There is still plenty of money available to support graduate students to
present their research at conferences, so stop by the GSA office or go to
www.gsa.ucr.edu/travelgrant and fill out your application today.

*4.  GSA Conference Chair*


We will begin searching for our 3rd Annual GSA Conference Chair.  This
year's interdisciplinary conference will be held in the Spring and will
feature graduate student talks, posters and performances.  Interested
parties, please contact please send a cover letter and resume or CV to

*5.  **AAO** **Graduate** **School** of Education*


If you are a graduate student (teaching credential, masters or PhD) at the
Graduate School of Education, we need you.  There is an opening as an
Academic Affairs Officer, please send your resume or CV and a cover letter

*6.  Call for Grad Student Art*


If you are a musician, have a demo tape/CD that you would like to have
featured in our lounge……

If you are a writer and would like to display your work on our poet's block
or story wall….

If you have paintings, that you would like featured in our art gallery…..

*7.  UCR Lobby Corps – make your voice heard!*

Interested in making your voice heard? Want to make sure your concerns as a
student are on our state representative's agenda? Then join the UCR Lobby
Corps. We're organizing to visit the state representatives and senators who
represent UCR and need your help. This should not take more than a couple of
hours of your time, and could potentially ensure the UC system has the
funding it needs and that students concerns are heard. Contact Gary Coyne

to find out more.

*8.  Apply to be the GSA Campus Organizing Director (COD)*


GSA UCR is accepting applications for the GSA Campus Organizing Director
(COD). This position works with the GSA External Office, which consists of
the GSA Executive Vice President (EVP), the GSA Legislative Liaison (LL) and
the GSA Campus Organizing Director (COD). The COD's primary duties are to
work with the other members of the GSA External Office, under the direction
of the EVP; to establish and maintain rapport with the campus community, by
also working with the ASUCR External Office; to work on the University of
California Student Association (UCSA) campaigns and actions, and attend UCSA
monthly board meetings with the rest of the GSA External Office. This
position has a monthly stipend of 100 dollars.

deadline for applications is Nov 30th, 2007 at 5pm.

*9.  The Search for the next UC President*


The UC is looking for a new President of the system, as President Dynes
resigned in August. UCSA just appointed students from across the system for
the Student Advisory Committee.

The committee wants your stories/concerns! Tell us: What are things that
make it hard to attend a UC? What do you want the next UC President to work
on to make the UC better for students? Don't let these questions limit you;
we want to hear about any problems or concerns. Post or send your stories on
the UC Student Association Blog at:

*10.  Register to vote!*


Voter registration cards are available in the GSA office. Stop by to fill
one out if you have just moved to CA, if you have moved recently, or want to
update your political party or any other information.


GSA will mail the form in for you; just leave it with the GSA EVP Louise
Hendrickson or the ASUCR EVP Alex Johnson at the GSA/ASUCR offices!
