 Dear Graduate Students,

Over the past weekend, many of you received a message from a fellow student that raised concerns for the safety and well-being of our graduate students. Although this message was not approved by the campus or university leadership, including those serving on the Graduate Student Association, it brought to light the ongoing work and discussions about mental health and its impact on our students at UC Riverside.

We all go through challenging times in our lives, and we firmly believe that Mental Health is a part of WHOLE health. With that said, please know that your safety and well-being is now and always a priority at UC Riverside… This has been and will never change! We will do everything in our power to help each of you find the strength to overcome obstacles, empower yourselves to reach new heights, and lead a life filled with endless support for success.

If you or a fellow peer have concerns and/or questions regarding mental health resources, please reach out to UCR’s Counseling and Psychological Services<https://counseling.ucr.edu/> (CAPS) at 951-827-5531. In addition, please refer to the following resources available to all students.

  * 24/7 UCR CAPS line: Call 951-827-5531 and select Option 1 to speak with a counselor immediately.
  * Crisis Text Line: Text 741741 (24/7) or visit https://www.crisistextline.org/ from anywhere in the US to chat with a trained crisis counselor about anything.
  * UCR Case Management: Email casemanagement at ucr.edu<mailto:casemanagement at ucr.edu>.
  * CAPS’ daily virtual walk-in consultation appointments are available. Call 951-827-5531 and select Option 2 to schedule during normal business hours.

We encourage you to reach out at any time. Our counselors are available to provide support during these challenging and unpredictable times. Your safety and well-being will always remain a top priority.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to vcsa at ucr.edu<mailto:vcsa at ucr.edu>.

Please stay safe and stay healthy.

Best Regards,
