Career Center creates new internship program
A new internship program is tailored to meet the needs of students from low-income and/or first-generation backgrounds. Six students are taking part in the pilot program, working on food waste reduction efforts for the Environmental Protection Agency.

Athletics director named to alliance promoting Black administrators
Tamica Smith Jones, director of Intercollegiate Athletics, has joined the executive committee of the newly formed Black AD Alliance. The group, which includes more than 50 Black athletic directors, was created to promote opportunities and support racial and social justice issues.

Provost's update on fall quarter instructional planning
The campus is continuing to plan for the fall quarter while awaiting state guidance for higher education. Additional guidelines regarding instruction will be provided in late August with plans expected to be finalized by September.

Flu vaccinations required for students, staff, and faculty members
The University of California has issued a systemwide executive order requiring all members of the UC community to receive an influenza immunization by Nov. 1.
The order is a proactive measure aimed at protecting the UC community and the greater public while relieving the burden on health care systems due to the coronavirus.
