 injustices, and organization of teaching and learning across diverse settings to understand educational possibilities. The course provides an introduction to epistemological, theoretical, ethical, and political foundations of conducting qualitative research
 in education. Students become familiar with the breadth and scope of qualitative research. The course privileges theoretically-grounded, practical orientation that teaches students how qualitative researchers work individually and in teams to design studies
 that may ultimately support movement toward educational and social change. Assignments guide students through iterative research design process, which includes conducting needs assessment using qualitative data collection tools, making sense of pilot data,
 and negotiating research plans with stakeholders.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

 (e.g., observational field notes, interview data, video data, document archival data) that they have gathered from a variety of data collection methods. Students will:<br>
-Learn common strategies for qualitative research analysis, including working within and across forms of data.<br>
-Become conversant in issues of trustworthiness and validity as they are understood in qualitative research, including learning how to “fine tune the coding scheme”.<br>
-Learn how to present findings and describe analysis processes in the methods and analytic section of your dissertation.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
