<p class="MsoNormal">Based on student feedback from the Town Hall meeting earlier this year, the GSOE started the Professional Development Series which is designed to provide support and tools to help GSOE students prepare and succeed in their chosen career.
A mix of faculty, post-docs, administrators, and professionals are invited to lead these panel discussions and learning sessions throughout the year.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The first event in this series was an alumni panel hosted by Associate Dean Comeaux. We heard PhD alum share their experiences and strategies for advancing and completing their dissertation project, and offered pro tips to graduate students
to better position themselves for competitive post grad opportunities. You can find the recorded session

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>The next event, Grant Writing 101, is scheduled on Thursday, September 30<sup>th</sup> from 2:30-3:30 pm with new Graduate Writing Center Coordinator, Alexis Smith.
</b>Alexis joined UCR this summer and brings a wealth of knowledge in the grant writing field from previous universities. The session will cover the basics of doctoral grant writing (ex: how to search and apply for grants), application best practices, and examples
of available grants specific to education students followed by a Q & A.<o:p></o:p></p>
