The Region 9 Rising Initiative will recruit individuals interested in learning about being a faculty member or administrator in a California Community College (CCC). We are seeking candidates to serve as Region 9 Rising Fellows for the 2024-2025 academic year and receive training and mentorship to help them build successful careers in community college higher education.

What is the Region 9 Rising Initiative?
The Region 9 Rising Initiative serves the 12 community colleges within the Region IX Inland Empire Desert Regional Consortium. Together, we are committed to a region-wide fellows programs to create a recruitment pipeline to address the scarcity of faculty diversity overall and in non-traditional programs. This program targets members of a group traditionally underrepresented in graduate programs and higher education and interested in a career in the California Community College system.

Fellows must have already completed a graduate degree or have completed at least one year of graduate school in a master's program. For those interested in being an instructional faculty, the master's degree should be in disciplines represented within our region and aligned with the teaching area of interest. For those interested in counseling, the prospective Fellow will need to be completing or have a master's in educational counseling, rehabilitation counseling, MFT, MSW or other qualifying degree.

As a Fellow, they will work alongside a faculty or administrator mentor and gain true community college experience while also receiving a stipend. The program is to commence this summer beginning in August 2024. Fellows will have the opportunity to select their top three college choices. If selected, they will be assigned based on college mentor availability and programming.

We will host a virtual information session, Tuesday, March 26, at 6:00pm.
