SOE Graduate Writing Cafe: A Place to Connect and Write!

Are you tired of working on your research and writing in isolation? Do you need some inspiration to help you stay motivated? Then join us at the SOE Graduate Writing Cafe!

At the writing cafe, you will have the opportunity to hear other graduate students' research presentations, work on your writing projects, get feedback from your peers, and connect with other graduate students. You will also have the opportunity to meet a guest faculty member to learn about their research and background. Whether you are writing a thesis, dissertation, research paper, or need a place to focus, this is the place for you.

When: Thursday, February 15th from 11am - 2pm

Black Talk - Anti-Blackness in Education

Join Dr. Rall, Dean Spencer and other members of the SOE Black Community for a discussion on Anti-Blackness, featuring Dean Spencer's book. Qualitative Research Workshop

The Qualitative Research Workshop is here! This 3-hour in person research workshop will be held on March 6th, from 11 am-2 pm, hosted by Dr. Alice Lee, Sofia Rivas and Esmeralda Muñoz. SOE faculty Dr. Amos Lee, Dr. Michael Moses and Dr. Lorena Gutierrez will also be mentoring small focus groups and offering feedback in student work. This event is dedicated to center you and your individual projects as you work through the iterative process of qualitative research. Graduate students who have completed the qualitative research course series are invited to register for the event!

Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Summer Institute in Anti-Racist and Decolonizing Research Methods, "Revolutionizing Research for Social Change," held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, June 24-28, 2024. The Institute is completely free! PhD students and advanced master's students interested in pursuing careers in research, come join us as we learn about and practice methods of resistance, connection, healing, and change.
