[Gradstudents] Commencement - All events for GSOE graduates

Dear Graduating Students,

I've had some questions come through about commencement, so I wanted to take the time to call out all events specifically available to GSOE graduates to help narrow down the information that has come through all our inboxes.

GSOE Virtual Commencement Celebration
Friday, June 11, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.
This is a GSOE exclusive event that is being hosted by the department. You may find the original email from Dean Rodriguez attached for more information.

Class of 2021 Virtual Commencement Ceremony
Friday, June 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.

This event is for Fall 2020, Winter 2021, Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 graduates

In-Person Graduate Recognition and Name-Reading Event
Two events based on degree (PhD versus master's). This event is open to graduates from Fall 2019 through Summer 2021.
If you are planning to participate in this event, you are encouraged to wear a cap and gown, however regalia is not required for participation.

Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
All Ph.D. degree and M.F.A. degree candidates (GSOE PhD graduates participate here)

**NOTE: All in-person events will be touch-free, so graduates will not be hooded in-person** However, I did speak with Events Management and there is a scheduled part of the ceremony where they will ask the graduates to stand and have a friend/family member hood the PhD graduate.

If you plan to participate in the Class of 2021 Virtual Commencement Ceremony and/or In-Person Graduate Recognition and Name-Reading Event, you should have received an email from commence at ucr.edu<mailto:commence at ucr.edu> to fill out the "Intent to Participate" form. If you did not receive that email, please contact me immediately so I can get in touch with the Events Management office.

Starting tomorrow, May 18th at 4pm, blocks of time will be released for you to sign up for the In-Person Graduate Recognition and Name-Reading Event. Make sure you sign up for a block of time. You will be allowed to have two guests with you. Please note all participants and guests must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination at check-in. Unvaccinated individuals must arrive with a negative result from a SARS CoV-2 PCR test, performed no more than 48 hours prior to arriving on campus.

Noteworthy deadlines:

Monday, May 17, 2021: Deadline to select and submit your Name to Be Listed in the commemorative Commencement e-program and your Name to Be Read and pre-recorded for your personalized graduate slide and in-person name reading. Please note, if you register after this deadline your legal first and last name will be listed and pre-recorded and cannot be changed.

(Updated) Thursday, May 27, 2021: Deadline to submit your completed Intent to Participate form to register for both the virtual Commencement program and in-person graduate recognition and name-reading event. The form will close at 11:59 p.m.
