GSOE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Spring 2021

READER POSITION: M.Ed., M.A. and Ph.D. students are invited to apply:

The duties and responsibilities of this position are to grade assignments and exams as directed by the course instructor. Attendance in the course itself is not required. The hourly pay rate for graduate students is $17.26.

This opportunity is available to interested M.Ed., M.A. and Ph.D. students who:


*        Are making adequate progress toward completion of their degree

*        Have a cumulative grade average of 3.0 or above

*        Have received at least a "B" in a course similar to the course in question and/or

*        Have other academic or professional expertise in the subject matter

Dr. Cathy Lussier
Explores learning options during the academic year and summers. Discusses the significance of on- and off-campus research and community engagement opportunities. Continues discussions of student success strategies, building community, and the structured opportunities to receive support and consultation with advisors.


Experience with Canvas Learning Management Canvas.  Experience with research in Education (such as graduate student researcher work or dissertation work). Familiarity with GSOE's graduate programs. Familiarity or experience helping, mentoring, teaching, or providing feedback to K-16 youth from diverse backgrounds.
Approximately 7 hours per week or 17.5% appointment

Special Topics - Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
Dr. Cathleen Geraghty
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a problem-solving framework that schools can use to help every student be successful. It is characterized by using assessment data to identify what types and intensity of behavior, social-emotional, and academic support is the best match for each system. Additionally, it is used to help evaluate the health of a system and address overarching, or Tier 1 issues, that may be interfering with outcomes. Research indicates that a well implemented MTSS framework is an integral part promoting social justice.
Experience with ilearn Learning Management System.  Background in education, behavior, and academic interventions.
Approximately 6 hours per week or 15% appointment


Graduate students are NOT eligible for these positions if they currently have appointments as a GSR, TA, Reader or staff anywhere on a UC campus that totals 75% for Spring 2021 unless otherwise approved (Note: typically, the limit is 50%, but due to COVID restrictions, students may work up to 75%)
