Dear GSOE Students,


It is with great sadness to share that one of our GSOE graduate students, Margarita Vizcarra, passed away earlier this week. We share our deepest condolences with everyone who is impacted by this loss in our community.



As our community grieves during this very difficult time, we encourage you to take care of yourselves and seek support from campus resources as needed. Attached is a message from UCR and includes some counseling resources that are available to all students.

Dear UCR Community,


It is with deep sadness that I bring you news that Margarita Vizcarra, a student in the Graduate School of Education, has passed away. It is never easy to lose one of our own and the loss is felt deeply throughout our community. Our hearts go out to those who were closest to Margarita, especially to her friends, colleagues and mentors in the Graduate School of Education.



Our campus stands ready to support one another in this loss. We encourage all of you who are affected by Margarita’s passing and in need of emotional support to contact campus resources. Mental health therapists are available for crisis counseling and support at Counseling and Psychological Services (951-827-5531) 24 hours daily. Student Affairs Case Managers (951-827-5000) can help make connections to university resources in difficult times. The Dean of Students Office deanofstudents at ucr.edu<mailto:deanofstudents at ucr.edu> is always here to help at 951-827-6095.
