<p class="MsoNormal">ANSIRH is seeking a graduate student in California to work closely with faculty and staff on a short-term ArcGIS project to collect, visualize, and map data that will further our understanding of abortion care in California. This project
seeks to shed light on the extent to which the demand for abortion care in California is being met, including identifying where the healthcare gaps may exist, and where additional resources may serve to improve abortion access. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The intern will be responsible for building on ANSIRH’s current database of publicly advertised abortion-providing facilities to collect and integrate data on other California abortion facilities (e.g. UC/CSU campuses, Kaiser), Crisis Pregnancy
Centers, and hospitals. The intern will also be responsible for capturing community-level characteristics such as the population distribution of pregnancy-capable people and social determinants of health data. The intern will be responsible for identifying,
downloading and managing data, as well as making personal contact (phone/email) to access potential data sources. The intern will integrate these data in an ArcGIS database, creating maps to illustrate the geographic distribution of data, as well as documenting
their methodology for this process. While the intern is expected to work on most tasks independently, the intern will work within a multi-disciplinary team at ANSIRH. This position is embedded in a robust mentorship structure with frequent collaboration with
senior scholars at UCSF. For this California-focused project, we are seeking an intern based in California, although the work can be done remotely. ANSIRH values a diverse workforce and strongly encourages applications from candidates who are people of color
