Southeast Asia's largest cities are sinking! Growing out of colonial ports located on mudflats and river deltas<span style="font-weight: 700;">,
</span>these cities are home to a majority of Southeast Asia's 700 million people and are economic hubs for old and new economies. They are also situated among some of the most biodiverse terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems on Earth, so strategies for saving
these cities range from heavy shoreline engineering<span style="font-weight: 700;"> </span>to re-greening to city migration. Southeast Asia's urban waterfronts are important sites for little-known stories of the modern past and visions for urban-green futures.
