Hello everyone,
In the next several days maps (and other visualizations) will be crucial tools in helping us absorb and understand various election results.
Here are some election map-related resources.
*
My counterparts at Indiana University Libraries have put together this helpful guide<https://guides.libraries.indiana.edu/c.php?g=1024502&p=7421466> regarding election maps.
*
The 270 to Win<https://www.270towin.com/> site includes several maps relating to the presidential race. Note that it has other tabs relating to the Senate, House, Governor, and state legislatures.
*
View maps of California statewide results here<https://electionresults.sos.ca.gov/maps>.
*
News organizations will have their own ways of displaying mapped results. This article<https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2024-11-04/mapping-election-results-takes-months-of-preparation> from Bloomberg News explains their process in using cartograms to depict the electoral college results, as well as the choices they're making in designing other maps for the elections.
Your comments and other suggested resources are welcome.
It will be interesting to see the variety of cartographic and visualization choices made to convey the results of this election!
Best,
Janet Reyes
