Hello everyone,

I have information to share with you on two very different topics.

  * ArcGIS licenses - If you've signed into ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Pro, lately, you may have seen a notice stating "... subscription [or feature] will expire in [x] days."

If you have signed into ArcMap, the message says "Warning: The _____ feature will time out in [x] days."

Have no fear! It just means that our campus ArcGIS license agreement is set to renew on June 10, 2024.

     * For anyone using ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Pro, the renewal should be seamless, with no action on your part and no interruption of access.
     * If you are an ArcMap user who needs ArcMap for one final academic year, you do need to take action: prior to June 10, request a license renewal from ITS. (No first-time licenses will be available.) See the Request Software section of this ITS webpage<https://its.ucr.edu/support#gethelp>.
        * I believe ITS has sent, or plans to send, an email to current ArcMap users at UCR with a little more detail on this topic.

  * Part-time UCR Library student employment opportunity for Summer 2024

Now through June 6, UCR students who are Second-years or above are welcome to apply for the Geospatial Materials Student Assistant position at https://app.joinhandshake.com/emp/jobs/8992698. The position's primary responsibility will be to help me organize and improve the usability of the historic aerial photo collection in Orbach Science Library. It would be 10-15 hours a week, from late June to mid-September, schedule to be arranged.

This opportunity is particularly suited for geospatially-inclined students who will be taking classes this summer, and/or who will have another part-time job. If the person hired works out well, the position could be extended into the 2024-25 academic year.

Please feel free to share this with anyone you know who may be impacted (ArcGIS license renewal) or interested (student employment).

Thank you all,

Janet Reyes
