Hello everyone,

Our next Geospatial/GIS meetup will be on Tuesday, November 7 from 12:00-12:50 pm.

The meetup will be held in Rivera Library, Room 140 and on Zoom.

(To find Rivera 140: turn right after entering Rivera Library. Keep walking until you pass the elevators. Room 140 is on the corner of the hallway you'll see to your left.)

Via Zoom, Adrienne Damicis with the Public Health Alliance of Southern California will present on The Healthy Places Index: Mapping to Advance Health Equity.

The Healthy Places Index<https://www.healthyplacesindex.org/> (HPI) is a powerful and easy-to-use data and policy platform created to advance health equity through open and accessible data at the neighborhood-level. Adrienne will show a live demo of the HPI map platform, discuss some of the ways that communities and policymakers have utilized the platform to transform HPI data into action, and highlight some future enhancements HPI users can expect to see. Adrienne will also share some insights into the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating and maintaining the HPI map platform, specifically in her role as the Geospatial Data Lead.

Adrienne Damicis is the Geospatial Data Lead at the Public Health Alliance of Southern California, where she works to enhance and expand the Healthy Places Index (HPI) map platform. She combines her background in biostatistics and epidemiology with her interests in GIS and health geography to advance Alliance projects in geospatial analysis and data visualization. Adrienne strives to create impactful and equity-centered data tools and visualizations that can act as integral resources for health and racial justice work.
