Hello everyone,

Our next Geospatial/GIS meetup will be held on Thursday, December 8, from 12:00 - 12:50 pm PST.

This will be a hybrid meeting, with an in-person option (and there might be treats!)

  * If you're willing and able, please join us in Rivera Library, Room 140. It's a large room with tables and chairs and plenty of space to spread out. To find it, turn to the right after entering the library. You'll see Room 140 on the corner of the hallway to your left just after you pass the elevators.
  * If you'd rather attend by Zoom, see the information below regarding how to get the Zoom link.

Our presenters will be Megan Hoff, GIS Analyst, and David Blumberg, GIS Technical Lead. Both are with the Southwest GeoReadiness Center, Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Engineering Systems Command.

Megan and David's presentation is titled Using GIS to Support Navy Installations.

This presentation provides a brief overview of the NAVFAC GIS program: the various participants, their responsibilities and how they support and inform each other. Examples of the products and services provided to the installations and the end users.

Megan Hoff, GISP, graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Geosciences with an Emphasis in Geographic Information Systems. After moving to San Diego, she worked as a GIS Technician in a large Environmental Consulting firm before becoming a GIS Analyst for the Marine Corps. The last three years she has been at NAVFAC where her primary responsibilities include GIS training and outreach, and supporting various Marine Corps projects.

David Blumberg, GISP, graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a BA in Urban Planning. He has been with NAVFAC for over twelve years where his current initiatives include building customized web apps for internal customers using the ESRI Portal for ArcGIS platform and standing up a UAS mapping program.

We'll also have time for announcements, discussion, and sharing geospatial news or projects. The meetup will be recorded.
Respond "yes" or "tentative" to this calendar invitation to indicate your interest in attending, whether in person or remotely, and to receive the Zoom meeting information from me shortly before the meetup. (Another option: register through Eventbrite<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/geospatialgis-meetups-tickets-422017705317> to receive an automated email with the Zoom information.)
Feel free to forward this invitation.

Hope to see you on the 8th!
