SUBJECT
Proposed Multiple Power Service Interruptions for Saturday 5/22
Please be advised a planned PD&C campus power project will impact various buildings on Saturday 5/22. Please read below for exact details.

PURPOSE:
As the campus continues to move forward with an extensive upgrade to our electrical infrastructure, creating more reliability, reducing unplanned outages, as providing flexibility for future growth we will have the following service interruptions (details below). This planned electrical work allows the campus to continue with balancing electrical power across major electrical switches, support the large-scale cabling upgrade underneath the highway for more secure campus connections with the city, eliminate primary power infrastructure immediately adjacent to the freeway, and allow us to have redundancy of campus electrical support in the near future.

Plans to perform these additional electrical infrastructure upgrades are scheduled for Saturday, May 22 from 7:00 am – 12:00 p.m.

Please review the details of the planned interruptions below:

The following building will be without power service for the duration of the shutdown.
Impacted Building
The Barn

The following buildings will experience two (2) short-term power service interruptions each lasting up to 10 minutes in duration at the following times:
· The first interruption will occur around 7:00 a.m.
· The second interruption will occur around 12:00 p.m. (noon).
Impacted Buildings
Plant Growth Facility
Main UCR Substation
Central Plant Satellite Chiller Plant

PD&C and Facilities Services staff will be onsite to ensure all power returns to normal. Buildings with back-up generators will support fire and life safety systems and E-power circuits only.

Concerned occupants should take the following precautions:
· If you have sensitive research equipment or systems you know can be impacted by power interruption and you have not connected them to uninterrupted power devices (UPS) and surge protectors, please plan to disconnect and turn off equipment for the duration of the day to avoid any damage.
· Additional information on how to power down your lab may be found from our partners at EH&S: https://ehs.ucr.edu/laboratory/utilities.
