October 24, 2020 Proposed Power Service Interruption Notification

Please be advised:

In continuing the preparation for the new parking structure in Lot 13, it will be necessary to perform electrical power work on the campus high voltage system in the project area. This work will require the following:



  *   Two (2) buildings to experience several service interruptions (listed below) lasting less than 5 minutes in duration.
  *   Additional buildings (listed below) may potentially experience service interruptions lasting less than 5 minutes in duration.
  *   The proposed date of Saturday, October 24, 2020 was selected due to the scope and safety considerations required for this work, as it is preferred to be performed during a time period when power usage is at its lowest and campus business operations are closed.
  *   It is our goal to limit interruptions related to this electrical project. Facilities Services staff will be onsite to ensure all power returns to normal. Buildings with back-up generators will support fire and life safety systems and E-power circuits only.

Proposed Date: Saturday, October 24, 2020. Total duration of work 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

POWER INTERRUPTIONS

The following buildings will experience At LEAST TWO SHORT-TERM INTERRUPTIONS OF POWER between 8:00am -10:00 am and 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The power interruptions will likely last from a few seconds to a few minutes. During this time, occupants will not be allowed in the building.

     *    Minus (-) 80 degree and minus (-) 20 degree freezers will not be impacted during short -term power interruptions.

Concerned occupants should take the following precautions prior to October 24, 2020:



  *   If you have sensitive research equipment or systems you know can be impacted by power interruption and you have not connected them to uninterrupted power devices (UPS) and surge protectors, please plan to disconnect and turn off equipment for the duration of the day to avoid any damage.
  *   Facilities will provide updates on the status of the shutdown or any unplanned events, if they occur.
