<p>Hi, all.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>The date of this year's FERM Annual Meeting is Saturday, February 15th, and the speaker will be Grey Gustafson, an
<span style="font-size:11.0pt">assistant professor and </span>researcher at Northern Arizona University. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p>His talk is titled<o:p></o:p></p>
<p><b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">From the depths of time to modern mountain sides: Evolutionary history of the predaceous ground and water beetles
</span></b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Much of his research is focused on the family Gyrinidae – the whirligig beetles, but he has also begun investigating the phylogenomics of Cicindelidae – the tiger beetles. His talk will show how using both genomic-scale data
and the fossil record have illuminated shallow and deep evolutionary history in these charismatic beetles.
</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p>For those who are unfamiliar with FERM, it is the Friends of the Entomology Research Museum, a non-profit support group, from which donations and membership fees are used to fund purchases of materials or services that benefit the Museum (such as visiting
curator stipends). Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting, but we would appreciate it if you consider becoming a member; annual dues are only $10.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p>The usual routine will be followed for the meeting, namely:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>The meeting will be in the main Entomology Building, ground floor conference room (<b>not</b> in the Museum).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p><b>Dinner begins at 6, the talk begins at 7</b>. People responsible for setup will be there around 5:15 to get the room prepared.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Dinner is pot luck, and we ask that people who are able to, to please bring entrees that can feed at least 4 people; if you
<b>can't</b> bring an entree, then snacks or desserts.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>FERM will provide cups, plates, utensils, a few snacks, and plenty of beverages.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>It is helpful but not necessary to send an RSVP (to <a href="mailto:dyanega@gmail.com">
dyanega@gmail.com</a>), to assist us in our planning.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Campus parking is actually easy; the BLUE section of Lot 6, right near Entomology, has free parking on weekends. See
