<span style="font-size:8.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Background: The state of Hawaii is subject to the highest influx rate of invasive species in the US, and Hawaii Island is the center of the plant industry. There is a continuous invasion of insects
and other pests, many of which become serious pests and impact agriculture, human health, and native ecosystems. Many additional arthropod threats to Hawaii persist including the red imported fire ant (RIFA) found in California and the red palm mite in Florida
are posing potential threat to Hawaii. Since a retirement in 2015, CTAHR has had an immediate gap in our ability to identify, monitoring and respond to new arthropod invasive species. Hawaii Island has a diverse and substantial agricultural sector that demands
rigorous invasive species management. In particular, the landscape and ornamental nursery industry ships large numbers of plants among islands and to the U.S. mainland, thus, Hawaii Island economy is particularly vulnerable to being shut down due to new pest
infestations. This position will support all CTAHR Strategic Initiatives, in particular the “Vibrant Tropical and Pacific Island Agriculture and Food Security”. <u></u><u></u></span></p>

monitoring and <b><i>management of arthropod pests of specialty crops and invasive species </i></b>in Hawaii, and serve as the Coordinator of the statewide <b><i>Integrated Pest Management </i></b>program for the ornamental industries including but not limited
to floriculture, foliage, nursery and landscape crops. The main task is to develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) for new invasive arthropod pests in collaboration with faculty across campus, extension agents, Agricultural Diagnostic Service Center (ADSC)
and other professionals from Hawaii Invasive Species Council (HISC), Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species (CGAPS), Hawaii Department of Agriculture (HDOA), USDA APHIS, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and etc to coordinate effective
and efficient protocols of <b><i>rapid response and quarantine measures to new pest introductions</i></b>, other duties include but not limited to: <u></u><u></u></span></p>

<span style="font-size:8.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Background: The state of Hawaii is subject to the highest influx rate of invasive species in the US, and Hawaii Island is the center of the plant industry. There is a continuous invasion of insects
and other pests, many of which become serious pests and impact agriculture, human health, and native ecosystems. Many additional arthropod threats to Hawaii persist including the red imported fire ant (RIFA) found in California and the red palm mite in Florida
are posing potential threat to Hawaii. Since a retirement in 2015, CTAHR has had an immediate gap in our ability to identify, monitoring and respond to new arthropod invasive species. Hawaii Island has a diverse and substantial agricultural sector that demands
rigorous invasive species management. In particular, the landscape and ornamental nursery industry ships large numbers of plants among islands and to the U.S. mainland, thus, Hawaii Island economy is particularly vulnerable to being shut down due to new pest
infestations. This position will support all CTAHR Strategic Initiatives, in particular the “Vibrant Tropical and Pacific Island Agriculture and Food Security”. <u></u><u></u></span></p>

<b><i>management of arthropod pests of specialty crops and invasive species </i></b>in Hawaii, and serve as the Coordinator of the statewide
<b><i>Integrated Pest Management </i></b>program for the ornamental industries including but not limited to floriculture, foliage, nursery and landscape crops. The main task is to develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) for new invasive arthropod pests in
collaboration with faculty across campus, extension agents, Agricultural Diagnostic Service Center (ADSC) and other professionals from Hawaii Invasive Species Council (HISC), Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species (CGAPS), Hawaii Department of Agriculture
(HDOA), USDA APHIS, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and etc to coordinate effective and efficient protocols of
<b><i>rapid response and quarantine measures to new pest introductions</i></b>, other duties include but not limited to: <u></u><u></u></span></p>
