</span><a><span style="font-size:11pt">The Assistant Specialist for Vegetable Crops Production and Management (1.0 FTE) will assist in all phases of applied vegetable production and management research and extension efforts in the northern
 San Joaquin Valley. The position will be headquartered at the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Stanislaus County office in Modesto, CA and will be additionally responsible for conducting research and extension activities in the northern
 San Joaquin Valley counties of Merced and San Joaquin per the request of projects. The candidate will also have opportunities to participate in national and statewide collaborative project activities.</span><u></u><span style="font-size:11pt"> </span><u></u></a></span></p>

 A minimum of a </span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Cambria",serif"><b><u>Master’s</u></b></span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Cambria",serif"> degree in Plant Science,
 Agronomy, Horticulture, Irrigation, Soil Science discipline or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. The Assistant Specialist must have experience in data analysis using statistical software tools such as R and SAS. In addition to
 a broad understanding in areas of applied vegetable production research and extension. Having the ability
</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Cambria",serif"><a><span style="font-size:11pt">to work with clientele across a wide range of socio-economic classes and ethnicities is essential. The Assistant
 Specialist must possess or obtain within one year a Qualified Pesticide Applicator Certificate (QAC) or License (QAL) prior to applying or supervising the application of any pesticide. </span></a></span></span><span></span><span><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Cambria",serif">It
 is desirable for the candidate to have knowledge and experience in vegetable grafting, irrigation management, and/or pest control.
