<div>There have been a few questions regarding the approval process for COVID-19, so here is a brief overview.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div> PI completes plan and alerts their chair/supervisor that the plan is ready for review</div>
<div> Rick Redak reviews and approves. You may need to email Redak to confirm he received this email and has approved it. Several have gotten lost in the system.</div>
<div> EH&S reviews and sets as Ready for Use".</div>
<div> Best practice: add all required members to your plan before submitting for approval.</div>

<div>Broken Glass Boxes must only be used for <i><u>uncontaminated</u></i> (clean) broken glass
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div> EH&S does NOT provide broken glass boxes. Labs need to purchase and dispose of this themselves in regular trash.</div>
<div> EH&S provides 5-gallon containers for contaminated broken glass </div>
<div> Waste containers are allowed to accumulate for 180 days </div>
<div> If containers are 80% full request pickup, do not wait 180 days. ·</div>

<div><b><u>Epi-Pen Training</u></b></div>
<div>We recently had an issue in the Entomology department regarding the need of an Epi-pen but luckily those involved in the incident were recently trained in first aid and Epi-pen use. This proactive training helped us avoid potentially serious consequences.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>It is good practice to have as many people trained as possible.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>EH&S can now provide EpiPen training for labs that would like to maintain an EpiPen in their first aid kit </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Contact EH&S Field Safety at <b>pamela.see@ucr.edu</b> to discuss training options</div>
