(NVSL) in Ames, Iowa, is looking for two entomologists to help protect U.S.
animal health. In this role, you will definitively identify a wide range of
external parasites affecting all species of domestic animals and
wildlife—critical work that supports APHIS’ animal health surveillance,
response, and diagnostic missions.

A successful applicant will have the following experience:

   - Identifying arthropod parasites and pests to the lowest taxonomic
   level that can be made with certainty based on morphology, host
   association, geographic location, season, and other pertinent information
   - Providing information about an identified organism such as the threat
   it poses, whether it is a native or exotic species, disease vectoring
   capability, geographic distribution, and potential for spreading in the
   environment
   - Maintaining, organizing, and cataloging specimen collections

APHIS is an emergency response agency. This position may be required to
deploy for extended periods of time to support emergency programs,
including ongoing New World screwworm response activities in the Southwest.

Relocation expenses may be authorized, and a recruitment or relocation
incentive may be offered.
