Dear Members of the Entomology Department,

I am writing to ask for assistance with collecting live adult fig
beetles, *Cotinus
mutabilis*, for use in student-oriented research over the summer. These
beetles have started flying and crashing into things!

The project will need about 20 - 30 beetles to complete - so far, I have
caught just one, which flew into a window and stunned itself.

I have not been able to run down flying adults with a net, they seem to
speed up when they realize they are being chased!

I have been unable to locate fruit trees with rotting/fermenting fruit to
hand collect beetles despite knowing the location of a really good fruit
ladened fig tree.

If you catch beetles, they can be kept alive in a sealed ventilated
container and fed super ripe banana!

If you manage to catch some, please let me know (Mark Hoddle

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Best,

Mark
