Dept. Chairs (and others cc’ed) –

Jesus Esquivel gave me your emails and suggested that you might know people
with an interest in this new listing of an ARS Research Entomologist in
College Station, TX. Hopefully, you will also see it listing in the ESA
newsletter and posted at the National ESA meeting. It is a new position
focusing on insect pests of pecan. The new hire will join 3 other
scientists in the pecan research program that includes the National Carya
Germplasm Repository. In College Station, they will also work closely with
other USDA entomologists of the Insect Control and Cotton Disease Research
Unit. The position could be filled by a recent PhD (GS12), an established
senior scientist (GS15), or anyone in between.

What may not be fully conveyed in the announcement is the importance of
applied field work, stakeholder interaction, and collaboration with
University research and extension partners. Because the USDA-ARS pecan
program has received generous support from stakeholders, it is well
positioned to support a new effort of entomological research in pecan and
stakeholders will be very attentive to on-going research. All applications
must be submitted through USAJobs. Applications will be accepted between
*10/22—11/20. *You can view the announcement at the following link:
ARS-DH24Y-12557444-JH <https://www.usajobs.gov/job/815187200>. If job
candidates have additional questions, they can contact me directly
Joshua.udall at usda.gov.

Cheers,
