Hi May,

Could you please share my postdoc ad with your network of Entomology dept
heads?

Thank you,

Adam

____

In short, the Dolezal lab at U Illinois is searching for a postdoctoral
researcher to work on projects related to honey bee microbes.

The ad can be found on this webpage:
https://www.igb.illinois.edu/resources/careers

Here is a direct link to the PDF of the ad:
https://www.igb.illinois.edu/sites/default/files/Postdoc%20honey%20bee%20microbe%20interactions.pdf

In short, applicants should contact me (Adam Dolezal) directly at
adolezal at illinois.edu by August 19, 2024.

I am also posting the information in the ad below for convenience:

The Department of Entomology of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to funded projects
studying how honey bee microbiome interacts with other environmental
factors to affect honey bee health, physiology, and behavior.

This work involves collaborating with a diverse group of researchers within
the NSF-Funded Genomics and Eco-evolution of Multi-Scale Symbioses (GEMS)
Institute as well as other external collaborators. The GEMS institute (
https://symbiosis.illinois.edu/) is a collaboration between researchers
from UIUC, Indiana University, and several other universities.. As such, a
successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively as part of a
group across labs and institutions.

Research approaches could include apiculture, lab- and field-based studies
of honey bee behavior, measurements of physiology and immune responses,
production and quantification of honey bee viruses, highthroughput RNA-
sequencing, gut microbiome inoculation and sequencing, and bioinformatic
and statistical analyses. The hired researcher will also be encouraged to
develop their own research projects within the GEMS institute, especially
those that involve collaboration with other labs and working with students.

Applicants should have completed the PhD before/around spring 2024. Those
with previous experience with microbiological and molecular biology
techniques, genomics, and/or bioinformatic analysis are especially
encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications: • A Ph.D. or the equivalent in microbiology,
entomology, or related field • Strong English writing and oral
communication skills • Strong organizational skills • Ability to work in a
collaborative environment Strong candidates will also possess the following
attributes: • A proven record of publishing research • Strong statistical
and mathematical skills • Experience with method development • Creativity,
independence, and the desire to learn T

he position is available for up at least two years, however annual renewal
is dependent on funding and progress made by the individual. This position
includes a competitive salary and full benefits. Application: Email a
single pdf file with “PD application – bee interactions” in the subject
line containing 1) a statement of research experience, interests and career
goals, 2) curriculum vitae including complete publication list, 3) names,
e-mail addresses and telephone numbers for three references to:* Adam
Dolezal; adolezal at illinois.edu <adolezal at illinois.edu> You can find out
more about the lab at https://publish.illinois.edu/DolezalBeeLab
<https://publish.illinois.edu/DolezalBeeLab> Review of applications will
begin on August 19, 2024 *
