All,
We are pretty much on schedule for unpacking the large storage bins (that
hold your stuff) and moving items into the new storage facility. If you
had items in the old facility you will need to be present during the
unpacking and be able to load your items into your assigned space. We will
have a better estimate of time early Monday. I am reasonably sure you will
not need to be there at a specific time, but do set aside a couple of hours
Monday to at least go and identify what is yours, decide what to keep and
what to throw away.
Everybody that has a storage space has been provided a new space. Note it
may be a bit smaller so you will have to use your space efficiently (stack
stuff, don't spread out on the floor--don't make it look like your garage
at home). The building is keyed to be opened by the Entomology Building
main door entry key so you can go up now and check out the place. You will
notice all rooms have been pre-assigned; look for a sign with your name on
it. Once you are moved in DO NOT put your own lock on your cage door.
Bill will be providing you with a lock and key and the Department will keep
a copy of the key.
If you think you are going to really need more storage space, step 1 is to
throw some crap out! Step 2 is to come talk to me as there may be poorer
quality space located at AgOps.
If you never had storage space, but think you need some, come find me.
*VERY IMPORTANT--READ.*
Under no circumstances are you to store ANY flammable or chemical materials
in the storage facility. No gas, ethanol, acetone, other alcohols, oils,
chemical etc. Anything that uses gas, leaf blowers, chain saws,
generators, etc, need to have their fuel tanks emptied and dried out if
possible. There are no exceptions. Also, the interior of the storage
facility is not approved for anything other than storage. Do not set up a
workstation of any kind inside the facility; it has not been approved for
such purposes.
Rick

Hello All
We are having a Entomology Storage Bldg. grand opening on Sept 25th exact
date and times will follow. Everyone that had a cage and will have a cage
in the new facility is cordially invited to attend the unpacking the cargo
container festivities. With Rick’s direction I would like to inform you of
the tentative plans. We will have two containers brought up to the new
facility where we will have people ready to help unload and move the
contents of these containers to your cages. Problem is everything is packed
into these containers with out a rhyme or reason. So we need you there to
grab your items and either put them in your cage or the big dumpster we
have placed by the building. This will be a work in progress from the 25th
to the 27th. With that said we would really like your attendance on the 25th
so we can get as much of it moved and placed into cages as possible. If
some one is not there to claim your items they will go back into the
containers, and you will be on your own to find your items. We do not have
room in the building to pile unclaimed materials.
We do have a 3rd container that will come up after the first two. I have
attached some pictures here. If any of these items are yours let me know so
I can set it up with the folks who will move the container up there and
empty it for you.
I will follow up as soon as we have hard dates and times. Please save the
date for the 25th though.
Respectfully,
*Bill Sutton*
