The Office of Environmental Farming and Innovation (OEFI) and Office of Pesticide Analysis and Consultation (OPCA) are recruiting to fill 2 (two) Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) positions.

Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) in OEFI, the incumbent critically analyzes the economic and pest management impacts of proposed state and federal regulatory actions related to pest management and oversees and participates in scientific research work and contracts examining alternative pest management methods.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  *   Employ scientific expertise to analyze proposed state or federal pesticide regulatory actions for potential pest and disease management impacts to California agricultural production systems;
  *   Interpret research results to write reports for regulatory bodies on the agricultural pest management impacts of proposed regulatory actions;
  *   Oversee Request for Proposals and grant award process for the research grants administered by OPCA;
  *   Serve as Department representative and provide technical expertise on interagency work groups;
  *   Manage data and conduct various analyses in PostgreSQL, R, SQL, and/or GIS programs;

  *   Present information on research project design, execution, status and results at stakeholder meetings, interagency workgroups or committees, public forums and scientific conferences; and
  *   Provide quick-turnaround analysis of selected integrated pest management issues.
