Hi Reddy,

Would you be able to share this with the ent chairs list as well? (unless
it’s already gone around that circle)

Thanks! Julian

*Postdoctoral research associate in genomics *

----------------------------------------------------------

One focus at the USDA-ARS Corn Insects & Crop Genetics Research Unit, Ames,
Iowa is to use genetic, genomic, and computational methods to investigate
the mechanisms by which crop pests evolved and adapt to the agroecosystem.

We are seeing a post-doctoral associate to investigate the adaptation of an
insect pest (the corn rootworm) to pesticidal proteins expressed by
transgenic maize. This project will use whole genome sequencing and
assembly, genome and transcriptome sequencing, comparative genomics,
quantitative trait locus mapping, and population genetic approaches.

The desired candidate will have a strong background in biology, ecology,
evolution, genetics, and/or genomics. Prior experience in bioinformatic
data analyses, quantitative genetics, population genetics, computational
biology, and the Unix command-line interface preferred. Motivation to
learn on the job via various learning and training opportunities is
essential. Candidates should also have a strong written and oral
communication skills, experience working independently and as part of
collaborative groups, as well as good interpersonal skills.

This is a federal position and open to United States citizens and permanent
residents, with relocation and start on or before May 31, 2022.

If interested, please submit a cover letter, CV, and the contact
information for references by email to

Brad Coates, Ph.D.
