*Assistant Professor of Plant-Insect Interactions Ecology - Montana State
University Employment Opportunities | Assistant Professor of Plant-Insect
Interactions Ecology <https://jobs.montana.edu/postings/31683>*
The department seeks a talented and collaborative colleague who will
embrace a multidisciplinary approach to a mechanistic understanding of
plant-insect interactions ecology. The successful candidate will link to
departmental strengths in plant ecology, entomology, ecosystem
biogeochemistry, environmental biology, and ecology to address critical
fundamental and applied questions related to plant-insect interactions in
agriculturally managed and natural ecosystems, with a potential to focus on
dynamics at the interface between these using a systems approach. This is a
nine-month (academic year), tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant
Professor level with research (55%), teaching (35%), and service (10%)
responsibilities funded by the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station and
the College of Agriculture.
*Assistant Professor of Entomology - Montana State University Employment
Opportunities | Assistant Professor of Entomology
<https://jobs.montana.edu/postings/31737>*
We seek a highly qualified and enthusiastic entomologist to contribute to
our programs. The appointment is 60% research, 30% teaching, and 10%
service. The successful candidate will develop an innovative and
collaborative teaching program relevant to the missions of the Department,
College and University. Instructional responsibilities include four
3-credit courses in a two-year cycle. A University Core course such as
BIOO-162CS
Insects and Human Society will be taught yearly, plus two courses
contributing to the M.S. Entomology program in alternate years. Possible
research areas include but are not limited to agricultural, ecological,
physiological, genetic, plant-insect interaction, apiculture, aquatic,
biodiversity evolutionary, evo-devo, and other areas of entomology.
*Assistant Professor of Entomology/Insect Ecology -
https://jobs.montana.edu/postings/32061
The department seeks a talented and self-motivated scientist who will lead
the development of effective and economical strategies for controlling
insect pests of dryland and irrigated field crops in the Golden Triangle
region of Montana. The successful candidate will use a team approach that
includes other research staff at the WTARC and across the department with
expertise in agronomy, animal and crop science, horticulture, microbiology,
pathology, plant ecology, soil and weed sciences. This is a 12-month
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with research (80%),
teaching/outreach (10%) and service (10%) responsibilities. Research duties
include development of a nationally competitive, field-oriented program
focused on understanding the biological and ecological processes affecting
insect pests and sharing this knowledge to inform management that mitigates
crop losses. The primary focus will be on arthropod pests of small-grain,
pulse, and oilseed crops in the Golden Triangle and similar
agro-ecoregions.
