All,
I just got out of a zoom with Jennifer Farias. Here is the approach to
take on the new policy dealing with travel pre-approval that

1. No need to do much for already approved field classes.

2. This includes any UCR travel, but especially if you want reimbursement
for anything. They will be cross-checking

3. Submit a blanket pre-approval ASAP that covers from now until 12/31/21.
It should include:

   - "...routine various errands within 20 miles of campus that are
required to maintain research operations" [This will include things such
as grocery stores, hardware stores, etc.
   - "...required field work to conduct experiments and collect data. This
travel is extensive and will occur in ...."(e.g. Southern Sierra Mountains
and Central Valley of California. List in general vague terms where your
field activities will occur. Do not be specific with respect to your
   destinations).
   - UCR NRS reserves do not need to be included in this stuff as they are
   under UCR supervision).
   - There is a place on the form that must include include the names,
relationship to UCR (e.g. SRA or Grad Student, or postdoc or ???) and their
contact information. I would suspect you will need to update all of this
crap once they let undergrads back into the show.

Send them to Ashley and she will coordinate getting my signature and
sending them up to the Dean and then to the Provost.

Yes it is both crazy and a huge waste of money. So don't bother griping to
me about it, I am over it.
