Subject: [ECOLOG-L] Quantitative Ecologist Position at USGS Eastern
Ecological Science Center
To: <ECOLOG-L at community.esa.org>
The USGS Eastern Ecological Science Center near Shepherdstown, West
Virginia is seeking a quantitative ecologist to join a team providing
science support and research on multiple species of conservation interest.
The team conducts quantitative analyses on impacts of stressors (e.g.,
climate, habitat loss, invasive species, disease) and conservation efforts
on species distribution, occupancy, and viability at decision-relevant
spatial and temporal scales. The quantitative ecologist will contribute to
species status assessments for endangered species decisions in
collaboration with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The quantitative
ecologist will also help develop a framework to inform decisions on the
allocation of conservation effort across potential actions and watersheds
to advance freshwater mussel conservation in the Delaware River Basin.
Additional opportunities could arise for the quantitative ecologist to work
on the application of decision analysis and structured decision making to
natural resource management.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in areas of risk
assessment, species distribution modeling, population modeling, scenario
analysis, expert elicitation, or decision analysis.
The position is a GS-11/12 term with potential for extension and is listed
under the Biologist-0401 series. Teleworking is expected initially but
could be continued.
To apply reference USGS-RES-21-11042944-DE-KFW on USAJOBS.gov. The
application period is from 3/5 to 3/18. For additional information, please
contact Dave Smith (drsmith at usgs.gov) or Dan Fitzgerald (
dbfitzgerald at usgs.gov).
Thanks,
Dan
