01/21/2021 – High-Pressure Steam Urgent Shutdown Notification



*SCOPE OF WORK*



*Catastrophic failure point for high-pressure steam line. Failing valve
must be replaced immediately to avoid building and Facilities Services
staff hazards. *



*IMPACT*



Steam distribution will be unavailable to the following buildings as steam
line valve is replaced on *Friday, January 22 (tomorrow) from 6:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m*.



   - Batchelor Hall
   - Biological Sciences
   - Boyden Laboratory
   - East Campus Soil Sterilizer
   - Facilities Services Grounds Building
   - Fawcett Laboratory
   - Genomics
   - Green Houses 6 - 21
   - Insectary & Quarantine Facility,
   - Keen Hall
   - Lath House One
   - Stored Products Insecticide (SPI) Building



To limit impact, our energy management superintendent will be resetting air
handler temperatures accordingly. *The following equipment will be impacted
during this shutdown:*

   - Domestic hot water
   - Industrial hot water
   - Building heating
   - Building humidifiers
   - Building Sterilizers including Autoclaves and Cage Washers



Facilities Services will provide an update once steam is restored.
