Dear All,
After consultation with the EGSA President and EGSA ISAC Representative, ISAC has decided to follow the same format as last year for this year's Virtual Entomology Student Seminar Day. We are working on a voluntary outdoor in-person social event and information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Attached is a list of Entomology Graduate Students who are assigned a Poster or a Presentation for this year. However, we want to invite all other majors Graduate Students and Entomology or other majors Undergraduate Students who do research in an Entomology lab to participate in the poster presentations. Faculty please feel free to forward this message to your students.
Students assigned/volunteering to present a poster are asked to:
* Design and assemble a poster
* Send Kathy Redd the Title of your Poster/Talk via this Google Form<https://forms.gle/LbYwpkwax92k796Z7> by September 3, 2021
* Save your poster in this Google File<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AIq2uVCi7hx-Xp-CfrHHWdQxADI3AuQo?usp=sharing> by Monday, September 13, 2021 (you need to use your RMail account)
* Prepare a 3 minute lightning talk highlighting the main points of your poster. Lightening talks can have no more than 4 Slides including the Title Slide. Talks will be presented via Zoom on September 15 and the final schedule will be distributed the week of September 6. Lightning talks will be followed by 2 minutes of discussion.
Following Seminar Day, the Department will be printing all posters and using them to refresh posters throughout the Entomology Building!
Students assigned present a talk, will present their talks during fall and winter quarter ENTM 250. The incoming Seminar Committee Chair Amy Murillo and/or past Committee Chair Kerry Mauck will select fall and winter quarter seminar dates and work with you in assigning two students to present during these seminars The format will be very similar to previous SSD presentations, with talks of about 15 minutes and time for at least 5 minutes of discussion.
Posters presented during SSD 2020 and presentations given during the fall and winter ENTM 250 meet Student Seminar Day degree requirements. Feedback for presenters will be the same as last year: We will strongly encourage that feedback-providing faculty, postdocs, staff, and students make detailed written comments and the comment form will be distributed with the schedule the week of September 6.
