*Subject:* Post-doctoral position at LSU
The Department of Entomology at Louisiana State University seeks
independent, highly motivated candidates for a two-year, USDA-funded
post-doctoral position. The post-doctoral scientist will work with faculty
in the Department and scientists at Southern Insect Management Research
Unit (SIMRU), USDA-ARS in Stoneville, MS, to develop research projects on
semiochemical-mediated interactions among insect pests, natural enemies,
and important crops in Louisiana (corn, soybeans, rice, sweetpotato, and/or
cotton), with the goal of developing new approaches for the management of
noctuid, hemipteran, and other pests. Potential areas for research include,
but are not limited to, semiochemical-based trapping methods, chemical
mediation of tritrophic interactions, and plant resistance. Opportunities
for training and collaboration with USDA-ARS scientists will be available.
Candidates with experience in volatile sampling, pheromone chemistry,
analysis of insect behavior, and/or other facets of chemical ecology are
particularly desired.
