Studies will include host-plant use and management of the glassy-winged sharpshooter (<i class="">Homalodisca vitripennis</i>) in nurseries, and the behavior and performance of the Asian citrus psyllid (<i class="">Diaphorina citri</i>) on different citrus varieties. </span></font></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; line-height: normal;"><span class="gmail-apple-style-span"><font face="arial, sans-serif" class=""> </font></span></p><div style="margin: 0in; line-height: normal;" class=""><span class="gmail-apple-style-span"><font face="arial, sans-serif" class="">Responsibilities include field collection of insect and plant samples, plant rearing and insect colony maintenance, greenhouse and field studies of insect behavior and population dynamics, and sample processing under the microscope to quantify insect abundance and plant damage. Prior experience with field research and insect or plant identification is desirable, but is not required. Occasional work outside of normal business hours (early mornings and weekends) may be required.</font></span></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in; line-height: normal;"><span class="gmail-apple-style-span"><font face="arial, sans-serif" class=""> </font></span></p><div style="margin: 0in; line-height: normal;" class=""><span class="gmail-apple-style-span"><font face="arial, sans-serif" class="">Students are eligible to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer, at an hourly rate of $16.50.
