His talk will show how using both genomic-scale data and the fossil record have illuminated shallow and deep evolutionary history in these charismatic beetles.</span><o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">For those who are unfamiliar with FERM, it is the Friends of the Entomology Research Museum, a non-profit support group, from which donations and membership fees are used to fund purchases of materials or services that benefit the Museum (such as visiting curator stipends). Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting, but we would appreciate it if you consider becoming a member; annual dues are only $10.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">See <a href="https://entmuseum.ucr.edu/ferm" style="color: blue;" class="">https://entmuseum.ucr.edu/ferm</a> for more information.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">The usual routine will be followed for the meeting, namely:<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">The meeting will be in the main Entomology Building, ground floor conference room (<b class="">not</b> in the Museum).<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class=""><b class="">Dinner begins at 6, the talk begins at 7</b>. People responsible for setup will be there around 5:15 to get the room prepared.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">Dinner is pot luck, and we ask that people who are able to, to please bring entrees that can feed at least 4 people; if you <b class="">can't</b>bring an entree, then snacks or desserts.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">FERM will provide cups, plates, utensils, a few snacks, and plenty of beverages.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">It is helpful but not necessary to send an RSVP (to <a href="mailto:dyanega@gmail.com" style="color: blue;" class="">dyanega@gmail.com</a>), to assist us in our planning.<o:p class=""></o:p></p><p class="">Campus parking is actually easy; the BLUE section of Lot 6, right near Entomology, has free parking on weekends.
