Hi all, I’m forwarding this message from Lidia about an upcoming Graduate
Student symposium. Abstracts are due today. This is the first time I
heard about this, so I am not sure how the message was sent to students.
Lidia is asking departments to encourage undergrads to attend, and suggest
incentivizing attendance in some way.

Best, patty

Dear colleagues

Could you please encourage your faculty to support the participation of
their graduate students in our first campus graduate student research
symposium (see message below)?
I think this would also be a great opportunitty to have our undergraduate
students be exposed to the research graduate students are pursuing on our
campus. Maybe you could suggest that faculty teaching undergraduate
students create an assignment that would be tied to attendance at the
symposium (i.e. describe two research projects that you were interested in
or ask 3 graduate students questions about their projects).
thanks
Lidia

**********************************************
This is a reminder that* abstracts are due on Monday, March 10*, for the
Inaugural UCR Graduate Student Symposium
<https://graduate.ucr.edu/gradsymposium>. This event, which will
showcase the research and creative endeavors of our graduate students, will
be held on Tuesday, April 8, in HUB 302 as part of Graduate Student
Appreciation Week.
Graduate students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit an abstract
and participate. Presentation formats include poster sessions, oral
presentations, paper proceedings, and exhibit or performance space for
creative works. Several categories will be judged, with feedback provided,
and prizes awarded for the best presentations.
This event is co-sponsored by the UCR Graduate Division, GradSuccess, and
the UCR Graduate Student Association.
